Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in Scripture?
The following are Scripture verses from Genesis to Revelation that I think relate to Iran and the West, specifically the United States. I think the following Scripture in Genesis is the first apocalyptic writing in the Bible, and the first to point to our current crisis with Iran:
Esau said to his father, "Have you but one blessing, my father? Bless me, even me also, O my father." And Esau lifted up his voice and wept.
Then Isaac his father answered him:
"Behold, far from the fertile earth
shall your dwelling be,
and away from the dew of heaven on high.
By your sword you shall live,
and you shall serve your brother;
But when you become restive
you shall break his yoke from your neck." Genesis 27:38-40
Does this not describe Islamic culture in the Middle East? Do they not serve the West through corporate oil interests with little benefit to the majority? And are they not now increasingly restive? Much of the Middle East is desert "far from the fertile earth."
"I am stirring up against them the Medes,
who think nothing of silver
and take no delight in gold..." Isaiah 13:17
"The Medes dwelt with the Persians in the land now known as Iran." (Commentary notes from The New American Bible)
"Ahmadinejad appealed to the people. He is seen as an honest and simple man. According to reports, he lives so modestly that his personal assets include only a 30-year-old car, an even older house, and an empty bank account. Ahmadinejad projects the image of a humble and devout man. He is motivated, not by wealth or power, but by his conservative Islamic ideals." (http://www.khouse.org/, 8/8/06)
"Sharpen the arrows,
fill the quivers;
The Lord has stirred up the spirit of Media's kings;
Babylon he is resolved to destroy."
Yes, it is the vengeance of the Lord,
vengeance for his temple." Jeremiah 51:11
"The Lord of hosts has sworn by himself;
I will fill you with men as numerous as
locusts,
who shall raise over you the vintage
shout!" Jeremiah 51:14
Our borders are very porous. They say another "9/11" is inevitable. They say it is not a matter of if, but when. No one doubts that it could be an inside job using suicide bombers.
Dedicate peoples to war against her:
the king of Media,
Its governors and all its prefects,
every land in his demain.
The earth quakes and writhes,
the Lord's plan against Babylon is carried
out,
Turning the land of Babylon
into a desert where no one lives.
Babylon's warriors have ceased to fight,
they remain in their strongholds;
Dried up is their strength,
they have become women." Jeremiah 51:28-30
Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is definitely dedicated to achieving the destruction of the United States. He believes he has been given a divine mission by Allah to help usher in the arrival of the 12th Imam.
Is our military not stretched beyond it's capacity? The Federal Government has had to hire soldiers through private companies in order to meet the demand for military personnel. Our soldiers have been on two and three tours of duty. They are tired. Where is the enthusiasm among the general populous to join the fight and win the "war on terror" as in World War I and II?
"Though Babylon scale the heavens,
and make her strong heights inaccessible,
destroyers from me shall reach her, says
the Lord.
Hear! loud cries from Babylon,
dire destruction from the land of the
Chaledeans;
For the Lord lays Babylon waste,
stills her loud cry,
Though her waves were roaring like mighty
waters,
and their clamor was heard afar.
For the destroyer comes upon her,
her heroes are captured, their bows
broken;
The Lord is a God who requites,
he will surely repay.
I will make her princes and her wise men drunk, her governors, her prefects, and her warriors, so that they sleep an eternal sleep, never to awaken, says the King, whose name is the Lord of hosts. Thus says the Lord of hosts:
The walls of spacious Babylon shall be
leveled utterly;
her lofty gates shall be destroyed by fire.
The toil of the nations is for nothing;
for the flames the peoples weary
themselves." Jeremiah 51:53-58
"Though Babylon scale the heavens, and make her strong heights inaccessible, destroyers from me shall reach her." Does this not describe what happened on 9/11?
The 12th Imam, the Mahdi?:
The beast that you saw existed once but now exists no longer. It will come up from the abyss and is headed for destruction. The inhabitants of the earth whose names have not been written in the book of life from the foundation of the world shall be amazed when they see the beast, because it existed once but exists no longer, and yet it will come again. Revelation 17:8
"Shiites hold that the Mahdi is Muhammad ibn Hasan, a descendant of the Prophet Muhammad born in the 9th century and the 12th and final Shiite Imam. As a devout Shiite, Ahmadinejad believes that the 12th Imam was hidden away by Allah at a young age and will someday emerge to bring justice and peace by establishing Islam throughout the world. After taking office Ahmadinejad allocated $20 million for the expansion of the Jamkaran mosque, a religious pilgrimage site where Shiites can drop messages to the "Hidden Imam" in a holy well.Ahmadinejad ardently believes in the imminent return of 12th Imam, which he anticipates will happen in the next two years. He believes he has a personal role in ushering in the return of the Mahdi and is preparing Iran for Judgment Day. Understanding this perspective is vital to understanding the Iranian threat." (http://www.khouse.org/, 8/8/06)
"Then he carried me away in spirit to a deserted place where I saw a woman seated on a scarlet beast that was covered wtih blasphemous names, with seven heads and ten horns." Revelation 17:3
"The woman seated on a scarlet beast" implies a dependent relationship. Is not the United States' economy dependent on Middle Eastern oil?
"The ten horns that you saw and the beast will hate the harlot; they will leave her desolate and naked; they will eat her flesh and consume her with fire. For God has put it into their minds to carry out his purpose and to make them come to an agreement to give their kingdom to the beast until the words of God are accomplished. The woman whom you saw represents the great city that has sovereignty over the kings of the earth." Revelation 17:16-18
Are there not alliances of anti-western leaders forming? Have we not seen the strange bedfellows of Venzuelan President Chavez and Ahmadinejad appearing before the whole world in their expressions of brotherly affection and common goal of the desctruction of the United States? What about the recent discovery that North Korea has been helping Syria build a nuclear power plant?
"Depart from her, my people,
so as not to take part in her sins
and receive a share in her plagues,
for her sins are piled up to the sky,
and God remembers her crimes."
Pay her back as she has paid others.
Pay her back double for her deeds.
Into her cup pour double what she poured.
To the measure of her boasting and
wantonness.
repay her in torment and grief;
for she said to herself,
'I sit enthroned as queen;
I am no widow,
and I will never know grief.'
Therefore, her plagues will come in one
day,
pestilence, grief, and famine;
she will be consumed by fire.
For might is the Lord God who judges
her."
"The kings of the earth who had intercourse with her in their wantonness will weep and mourn over her when they see the smoke of her pyre. They will keep their distance for fear of the torment inflicted on her, and they will say:
"Alas, alas, great city,
Babylon, might city
In one hour your judgment has come."
The merchants of the earth will weep and mourn for her, because there will be no more markets for their cargo;.... " Revelation 18:4-11
